Indian left-handed batsman Shikar Dhawan is officially ruled out of ICC men’s cricket world cup 2019. Dhawan had suffered a hairline fracture during the game against Australia. He scored a century in that match. Rishabh Pant will replace his spot in the team.
He hasn’t recovered well and the team management took a decision on his status.
“Following several specialist opinions, he’ll be in a cast till mid-July and is ruled out of the World Cup. Dhawan’s fracture is at the base of the first metacarpal on his left hand. We’ve requested for Rishabh Pant as a replacement.” – Sunil Subramaniam, Team Manager.
In the absence of K.L. Rahul opened the innings for India with Rohit and it turned out of well for the team. And Vijay Shankar is added to the mix and came as No 4 batsman for India and was impressed with his bowling skills by picking a wicket on his first ball of the world cup.
Rishabh Pant earlier was called in as a cover for his replacement on June 11 and he is traveling and training with the squad. He is now the official replacement for Shikar Dhawan.
