Shane Warne Shares An Old Clip Of Appealing To Umpire

Unlike several other cricketers, Shane Warne, the former Australian leg-spinner, has been active on social media as the world fights the COVID-19 pandemic. The wars on cricket pitch between Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar have been some of the most unforgettable.

After sharing an old video on Twitter, where Warne could be seen appealing LBW against Sachin Tendulkar, the bowler responded: “Seriously? Come on @robelinda2 !!!!!! How’s that not out?”. The video clip is from the first India-Australia test back in the 1998 series played at Chennai.

Sachin Tendulkar went on to score 155 in the second innings in the game against the Aussies which helped India win. Shane Warne had dismissed Sachin Tendulkar for four runs in the match’s first innings but was unable to replicate in the match’s second innings.

Shane Warne played 145 test matches for Australia and picked up 708 wickets at an economy rate of 2.65. The legendary Australian leg-spinner also played 194 ODI’s and scalped 293 wickets at an economy rate of 4.25.

Warne, who captained the Rajasthan Royals back in 2008, helped his team secure the IPL trophy during the cash-rich league’s inaugural season. He’s played 55 IPL matches and scalped 57 wickets.

The IPL was initially scheduled to begin on March 29 this year. Nevertheless, the Board of Control for Cricket in India agreed to postpone the Indian Premier League until April 15 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
