Shahrukh Khan’s Big-Hitting Ability reminds Virender Sehwag Of A Young Kieron Pollard

Every year we get to see the local talents in IPL and we get to know the emerging stars who’ll be playing for their country one day. IPL 2021 has seen Avesh Khan, Chetan Sakariya, Harshal Patel, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shahrukh Khan, etc recently and we all know they’ll play for India one day. Stay with us to know how Sehwag compares Shahrukh Khan with Kieron Pollard.

A tall giant, Shahrukh Khan was purchased by PBKS for INR 5.25 crore at the IPL 2021 auction. We saw Shahrukh Khan hitting the ball clean and long over the park in this IPL. Batting in the lower order, he scored 107 runs from eight matches at a strike rate of 127.38. His best score of 47 came off 36 balls against Chennai Super Kings. The 25-year-old made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the tournament that was suspended recently and played some impressive cameos down the order.

Shahrukh Khan Reminds Me Of Young Kieron Pollard: Virender Sehwag

Talking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag went to the extent of stating that Shahrukh Khan’s clean-hitting ability reminded him of a young Kieron Pollard.

He (Shahrukh Khan) reminds us of a young Pollard when he had just come into the IPL. Everyone was running after him because he could just stand and hit sixes off bowlers. Shahrukh has the same quality”. Although he has played those little innings and hasn’t played a big knock. But the lower you bat in the line-up, there’s only so much he can do”.

Sehwag later explained if Shahrukh Khan bats higher up in the order, he has a chance to score a century.

“If he can be given a chance to bat higher, the day he clicks, he could even hit a century. He is the kind of player for whom it doesn’t matter what happened to the previous ball. Many batsmen think ‘Oh, I got beaten, this one turned’. Those who don’t think about the previous ball, have a higher success rate,” Sehwag explained.

IPL has been suspended indefinitely and there is almost half of the matches remaining. BCCI are planning to continue the tournament around September this year. Punjab Kings are currently sixth on the points table of IPL after winning just three out of their first eight games.
