Shafali Verma and Radha Yadav To Make WBBL Debut

Shafali Verma and Radha Yadav are all set to make their debut in the inaugural edition of The Hundred and they will also be a part of Women’s Big Bash League.

According to reports Shafali has signed a contract with Sydney Sixers and left-arm spinner Radha Yadav is set to sign a contract with a Sydney-based team.

Shafali Verma’s father has confirmed the rumours and said – ” Yes, Shafali has signed the contract with Sydney Sixers and given she is a minor, I have had to give my consent, too – I would like to thank the BCCI and Haryana Cricket Association [HCA] for giving my daughter the permission and support to play in the WBBL. Without the guidance of the HCA, whatever Shafali is doing in her career wouldn’t have been possible,”.

Shafali Verma is all set to join the T20I squad, which includes Harmanpreet Kaur, deputy Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma in the inaugural edition of The Hundred.

She will play for Birmingham Phoenix, whereas India’s T20I skipper Harmanpreet and Mandhana will be representing Manchester Originals and Southern Brave respectively in the upcoming edition of The Hundred.

BCCI has granted NOC’s for these Indian Women players. And they also join the national team and will play one Test, three ODIs, and as many T20Is in June-July this year.

Harmanpreet, Smriti, Jemimah, and Deepti were the Indian players who had played in the Kia Super League (KSL), ECB’s domestic T20 tournament. The inaugural season of The Hundred was set to be played last year, but it got postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
