Sanjay Manjrekar Suggests CSK To Drop Suresh Raina Against KKR

The IPL 2021 noon game on 26th September, Sunday, will feature Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. Although CSK has been in excellent form this season, several of their experienced players, such as Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu, appear to be not in form. Raina, on the other hand, appears to be more off-color than Rayudu, who piled up 32 off 22 in the previous game.

In the same sense, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar stated that both Rayudu and Raina are looking somewhat off, adding that CSK should go with the latter in this situation. Manjrekar selected Rayudu because he believes the Andhra player has some limited time with CSK’s yellow army.

The worry for Chennai is that both (Suresh) Raina and (Ambati Rayudu]) are looking off-color; Raina more than Rayudu. But if I have to look at somebody who is a possible candidate for success going ahead, I’ll go with Rayudu ahead of Raina,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.

CSK Should play Jadeja as a pure batter and leave out Suresh Raina: Manjrekar

Manjrekar said that CSK should bring in Karm Sharma and remove Suresh Raina prior to the KKR versus CSK game since they already have sufficient batting strength. The cricket commentator added another point to the table by advising that CSK play Ravindra Jadeja as a pure hitter and remove Raina.

That’s where Imran Tahir or Karn Sharma could be looked at, but I doubt that Tahir will replace a foreign player. So, what I would do is have Karn Sharma coming into the team and play Ravindra Jadeja as a pure batter and leave out Suresh Raina,” he added.

Raina has been staring at his bottom in the previous two seasons after averaging less than 25 in the 2019 season and withdrawing from the 2020 season. Considering the performance of this season, Raina has only 144 runs in total at an average of 24 runs at a striking Avg. of just 127.43. It would be interesting to see whether Raina can deliver some crucial runs for CSK versus KKR.
