Sanjay Manjrekar Takes A Dig At Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad Selection, Says They Didn’t Deserve To Win

Sanjay Manjrekar About SRH Team Selection

Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost their first three IPL 14 games in a row. They have failed miserably while chasing the runs on all three occasions. Former Indian cricketer and cricket expert Sanjay Mankrekar took a dig at Sunrisers Hyderabad over their poor selection as they lost against Mumbai Indians by 13 runs in IPL 2021 on Saturday. Here is what Sanjay Manjrekar spoke about SRH team selection,

Asked to chase down a moderate target of 151 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad were off to a brilliant start with an opening stand of 67 runs between skipper David Warner (32) and Jonny Bairstow (42). However, the team once again lost the plot after the overseas duo’s departure.

Sanjay Manjrekar Points Out Reason Why Sunrisers Hyderabad Didn’t Deserve To Win Match Against Mumbai Indians.

Sanjay Manjrekar slammed the Sunrisers management for selecting the three young batsmen, aged 19, 20, and 23 with less than 30-match IPL experience. “Sorry to say, but anyone that picks Abhishek Sharma, Virat Singh and Abdul Samad all together in one playing XI do not deserve to win,” Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted.

Manish Pandey continued his poor form and inexperienced Virat Singh and Abhishek Sharma got out cheaply. It was Hardik Pandya’s excellence in the field which got dangerous David Warner and Abdul Samad out.

From a strong position of 67/1 inside eight overs, However, a routine collapse followed and SRH lost nine wickets for just 60 runs to continue their losing run. Vijay Shankar’s 28-run fight was never going to be enough against Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

David Warner Stated That He Did Not Know How To Digest The Loss

“I don’t know how to take that. Obviously disappointing. Two of us were set but it proves that if you don’t bat deep, you can’t win. That was my game-plan, a great piece of fielding from Hardik though. But that’s the game of cricket. These are very much chase-able targets, if you get a partnership and if there is one person at the end, you can chase it down,” the Australian said.

Questions over every fan’s mind that when will Kane Williamson return to the starting XI and will he bring the balance in the middle order. Sunrisers Hyderabad faces Punjab Kings next on Wednesday, 21 April.
