The batting legend Sachin Tendulkar speaking on Dhoni’s retirement said that he must be given some space to decide on his own and insisted that he will have a special career in the limited-overs cricket.
Since the time India was into the ICC World Cup 2019, the speculations of former Indian Capitan MS Dhoni’s retirement plans have started taking place, be it by fans or cricket players. However, there was no official word of Dhoni’s retirement from the 50-over format of the game till the date.
MS Dhoni, the former Indian Capitan who led the country to the World Cup title in 2011, was left disappointed when he was run out in the 49th over of the innings while he was chasing 240 against New Zealand in the semi-finals.
Dhoni was the only hope for Team India as the Top order players Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul were knocked out for a single-digit score.
Dhoni came to the crease when India was struggling to make runs. India was at a desperate stage with the loss of wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja played an exceptional Innings, where India’s hopes on the match were reborn. Dhoni in Partnership with Ravindra Jadeja took the match to standby with a score of 208.
In spite of the greatest efforts put by the Indian team, they have ended up with a loss of 18 runs against New Zealand. Dhoni’s run-out has made a fall off for Indian team.
“Thank You, MS Dhoni” was the message rolling on the social media after Dhoni was run-out by Martin Guptill throw in 49th over. Everyone was much thankful to Dhoni who topped India in every manner.
“That’s his personal decision [end of 50-over career]. Everyone should give him that space and respect that. Everyone should respect his contribution to India cricket rather than starting speculations. After having contributed so much, he should be the one making that decision.” – Sachin Tendulkar said.
Sachin praising MS Dhoni said that not many will have a successful career as the India Wicketkeeper. He further said that fans kept hope the hope alive as long as Dhoni was there in the middle during the match.
“How many guys can have a career like this? He has had a special career. The support and belief that people have in him is a reflection of his contribution. People still believed that he could go and finish the game. The game was not over till the time he was out there.” – Sachin said.
