Conway and Gaikwad’s 182-run partnership for the first wicket against SRH is the franchise’s highest partnership in IPL history. Former CSK openers Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson set the previous record with a 181-run partnership in IPL 2020.
Conway hit an unbeaten 85 off 55 balls to help CSK post a massive total of 202 runs and win the game by 13 runs after restricting SRH to 189/6 in 20 overs. Following his team’s victory, Gaikwad made a playful jab at Faf Du Plessis, claiming that the South African batsman could be envious that he and Conway had broken his CSK record.
