Robinson get the green signal for the first two tests against South Africa

England has recalled right-arm medium fast bowling Ollie Robinson for the first two test matches against South Africa. Robinson will be in line to add yet another cap to this CV, he made it to the squad after battling with a cluster of elements that kept him out of action for nearly two months and as he was coming back from his issues, he faced yet another setback after getting infected with COVID and dental issues.

Robinson made his test debut last summer against New Zealand at Lords, he claimed seven wickets in that match and scored 42 runs in his maiden innings but was stood down after a pending disciplinary hearing for the posts he made as a teenager in 2012 & & 2013, later he was banned for eight matches and was fined 3200 pounds.

The last Robinson played was against Australia in January. He has an average of 39 wickets at an average of 21.28 in his nine appearances to date, Robinson returned to the County Championships last week and has not played for England since the West Indies tour due to a back injury. Robinson is now set to replace Jamie Overton from the squad that took on India a few weeks ago.

Robinson has picked up 46 wickets in his debut domestic season including 6 wickets for 33 against Warwickshire. His natural ability is to bowl off-spin which made him a valuable asset for Sussex, but he can provide a seam-bowling option, a variety of slower balls, and can be considered for power-hitting in the lower-middle order.

Speaking on the Squad selection England Cricket Board Men’s Performance Director, Mo Bobat, said that “The selectors have picked a squad for the first two tests at Lord’s and Emirates Old Trafford with continuity in mind”. He even stated that “After an excellent start to the summer under Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes, we’re looking forward to an exciting test series against a Strong South African side”. “It’s good to get Ollie Robinson back in the mix after his recent injury”.

Robinson will also be hoping to get his full fitness back on track by playing a four-day practice match for the England Lions against South Africa
England has been on a hot streak since Brendon McCullum has taken over the role of Head Coach of the test team and Ben stokes with the captain’s armband.
England squad for the first two tests against South Africa will be Ben Stokes (C), James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Foakes, Jack Leach, Alex Lees, Craig Overton, Matthew Potts, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, and Joe Root.
