The wicket-keeper batsmen Rishabh Pant is all set to leave for England. Rumors state that this player might replace the injured opener Shikhar Dhawan for the upcoming matches held in ICC world cup. The BCCI has asked Rishabh Pant to join the team as soon as possible.
“Pant will be joining the team at the earliest as back-up as requested by the team management. Like Khaleel (Ahmed) he will be traveling with the team but he won’t be part of the squad just yet,” – BCCI official.
Pant’s selection by BCCI has become breaking news to everyone. And BCCI wants Dhawan to recover within 3 weeks and get back to the field as soon as possible. Pant could possibly play in two matches i.e with the New Zealand which is gone held tomorrow and Pakistan which will be on June 16. So, BCCI is making arrangments to bring pant to England.
“Pant has already been informed and his kit, as well as other paperwork, has been handed to him. We are trying to get him to England as soon as possible but it all depends on the BCCI logistics team. However, we want to make it clear that Pant is not available for selection because he is not an official replacement yet,” the BCCI official clarified.
The selectors have also named Ambati Rayudu, Axar Patel, Navdeep Saini, and Ishant Sharma along with pant.
“Dhawan is presently under the observation of the BCCI medical team. The team management has decided that Dhawan will continue to be in England and his progress will be monitored. Dhawan sustained an injury on the back of his left hand in the region between the index finger and thumb,” – The statement was given by team management.
The news tells that captain of the Indian team Virat Kohli is going to brief about the injured Dhawan and pant who is going to come to England in a pre-match press conference which is will be at Nottingham.
