There’s A Reason Why I Wanted To Come Back To MI: Ishan Kishan

India’s young and promising talented keeper-batter, Ishan Kishan was previously aware that the Mumbai Indians (MI) will purchase for him in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 blockbuster auction. The left-handed hitter also stated that he would like to return to his previous team because they are familiar with his game. Kishan was perhaps the most expensive player at this season’s auction process, with MI paying Rs 15.25 crore for Kishan. Here we discussed the Reason Why Ishan Kishan Returned To MI.

Reason Why Ishan Kishan Returned To MI

So far during his IPL stint, the 23-year-old hitter has appeared in 61 games. Kishan, who has been there for MI since 2018, has 1,452 runs scored for an avg of 28.47 and a strike rate of 136.34. He has nine 50’s to his belt, with his best score of 99 runs coming in the 2020 IPL versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). MI didn’t even mind spending a lot of money to bring Kishan on board since he’s an established match-winner for the squad.

I know the MI franchise will take care of me: Ishan Kishan

“I knew MI would go for me. That wasn’t the worrying bit. The worrying part was the rising price because MI needed to save on money to build the rest of the team. It wasn’t just about me. For a minute there, I must admit, my heart skipped a beat,” said Ishan Kishan in an Interaction.

“There’s a reason why I wanted to come back to Mumbai Indians. They know me, they understand my game and I know my franchise and how it works. Because I’ve been part of this family, I was sure I didn’t want to go anywhere else. I’ve been here four years and the bonding has been amazing. We’ve won two trophies, stood for each other and with each other, they know my cricket and I know they will take care of me. So, I didn’t want to go anywhere else,” he added.

Furthermore, the IPL 2022 season is set to begin the following month. Under the guidance of captain Rohit Sharma, the 5-time winners’ MI will try to continue their domination in the competition. Despite retaining Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard,  Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav at the mega auction, the team was able to acquire its center of excellence.
