South Africa has announced its squad for the upcoming Test and T20 series against Team India. The safari team will play three T20s and three Tests in India. The South African cricket board is undergoing a number of changes following the terrible defeat at the World Cup. Head Coach Gibson made it clear that the contract was not being extended. Three uncapped players have been inducted into the Test squad following the retirement of senior players Dale Steyn and Hashim Amla. “We are relieved of the responsibilities of the limited cricket captaincy with the intent of reducing the pressure on Duplessis. Similarly, the decision was made to ensure that De Kock has the experience to captain the ICC T20 World Cup next year.” Dawson was promoted to vice-captain.

With Imran Tahir’s retirement announced, young spinners Mutusamy and Dane Piedt have been selected along with Keshav Maharaj to strengthen spin bowling. South Africa will play T20 series first as part of their tour of India. The first T20 will be held in Dharamshala on September 15. The Test series will begin on October 2. Visakhapatnam, Ranchi, and Pune will host the India-South Africa Test matches.
