Return of Prime Minister’s XI in a four-day match with pink ball against the West Indies

Prime Minister’s XI Series

After a two-season break owing to COVID-19, the Prime Minister’s XI match will return this summer, albeit under a new form as a four-day pink-ball encounter vs West Indies ahead of their two-Test series.

Location of the Match

The match will take place concurrently with a round of Sheffield Defense games. But with a view toward the future, it will feature many of the young players in the home game.

Four-Day Pink Ball Test Match

On November 30, the first Test between Australia and the West Indies will begin in Perth. The team is already chosen. The second Check of the run will probably take place throughout the day and night in Adelaide.

The game, which will take place at Canberra’s Manuka Oval under the lights from November 23 to 26, will help the touring team get ready for the two-Test series against the hosts.

Olivia’s Statement

According to Olivia Thornton, the ACT’s chief executive, it is crucial for Canberra.”We are always up for being innovative and we are certainly keen to see what it [the pink ball] is like. We’ve shown time and time again that we can produce quality surfaces. Whether it’s for T20, Test matches, or one-day, we are in pretty good hands.

He further added that “We have certainly go some runs on the board in the last little period. If you look back two years ago through Covid it was actually Canberra that facilitated a number of games here through the Big Bash.

He concluded by saying “I asked the other day about having to prove we’re there. I think that’s gone, don’t think we need to prove anymore. We are really proud of what we do here. I know the players love playing here, it’s a little hidden gem to some degree.”

Anthony Albanese, the prime minister, and national selector George Bailey will both play “active roles” in selecting the team.

Prime Minister’s Comments

The Prime Minister quoted “I am delighted to confirm the return of the Prime Minister’s XI this summer, an Australian tradition that spans 70 years.”

“Along with Cricket Australia, I am very excited to be welcoming the West Indies. I grew up loving watching Viv Richards, Malcolm Marshall, and Joel Garner. So I’m thrilled my first PM’s XI as Prime Minister will be against the current West Indies stars in Canberra.

He finished off by saying “I also want to thank Andre and Jono for the leadership they will provide to my PM’s XI squad. In the coming weeks. I will meet with the National Selectors to discuss what I suspect will be a very strong PM’s XI.”

It will be a great tournament to watch out for in the month of November. As the pink ball test match returns after two long years due to the corona virus.
