England captain Joe Root’s presence in the team is doubtful for next month’s first Test against the West Indies, as he will be expected to endure seven days of self-isolation after attending his second child’s birth. As per England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) guidelines, Root will need a week of self-isolation before joining the national team. The ECB, however, is constantly updating its guidelines and can loosen the self-isolation rule by next month. The Test series is going to be played in a bio-safe environment to counter the COVID-19 threat after the UK Government’s final approval.
