PCB Would Revamp The First XI Matches Of The National T20 Cup:
With a view to the next three global tournaments, the Pakistan Cricket Board today announced the decision to revamp the First XI matches of the National T20 Cup as well as the Pakistan One-Day Cup in a double-league tournament. The switch would guarantee ten league games for each team in the top white-ball competitions of the 2020-21 season, instead of the normal five.
The National T20 Cup will be the season’s curtain-raiser, with matches being held in Multan and Rawalpindi from September 30 to October 18, while the National U19 One-Day Tournament will be held in Lahore, Muridke and Sheikhupura from October 13 to November 2.
The remainder of the PSL 2020, which was suspended indefinitely when COVID-19 struck, will be completed in November, as announced earlier, while the 2021 edition will kick off in February, following the conclusion of the Pakistan One-Day Cup, which is scheduled to run from 8 to 31 January.
Pakistan’s first-class season will begin in November, with four-day games beginning on October 25. The five-day final for the same duration begins on January 1. Travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 safeguards would mean that the totality of the Quaid-e – Azam Trophy will be played in Karachi alone during the 2020-2021 season.
“In the unpredictable situation of Covid-19, I am pleased that we have been able to put together a full domestic cricket schedule that is daunting but will make a significant contribution to bringing the best out of all the players that will, in turn, improve the quality and standard of our home cricket,” said Nadeem Khan, Director of High Performance.
“The increase in the number of matches will not only provide a fair and equal opportunity for all talented players, but will also raise their earnings-something that we have been very vigilant about since the revamping of the domestic system.”
