P Chidambaram Tweets This After Joe Root Leads England To Test Victory

In the first Test against New Zealand at Lord’s on Sunday, Joe Roots’ performance hit his 26th Test century to put England over the top. Root embarked on a 90-run stand with Ben Stokes and then a 120-run partnership with Ben Foakes to lead England to a 5-wicket victory after they were 69/4 in their pursuit of 277 at one stage. Root and Foakes were praised by Congress leader P Chidambaram for seeing off the New Zealand bowlers on Day 4 and leading their team to victory.

He tweeted, “The way Joe Root and Ben Foakes batted and guided England to victory against New Zealand is a great show of responsibility, discipline, and character.” He went on to say, “That’s genuine professionalism.”

The manner in which Joe Root and Ben Foakes batted and led England to victory over New Zealand exemplifies responsibility, discipline, and character.

That is the epitome of professionalism.

This tweet came after Joe Roots’ remarkable performance in the previous match he had played. Root batted undefeated for 115 runs off 170 deliveries, scoring 81 runs in a 12-run partnership with Foakes. Foakes scored 32 points.

In England’s chase, Ben Stokes also scored 54 runs. After opting to bat, England bowled New Zealand out for 132 runs in the first innings. However, in their second essay, they were only able to get a score of 141.

New Zealand was in trouble once more, but Daryl Mitchell’s century and Tom Blundell’s 96-run knock rescued them and helped England Cricket Team set a target of 277 in their second innings, as they made 285 in their second appearance.

England has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with this victory. They’ll meet again at Trent Bridge for the second Test. Meanwhile, Root became the 14th player in history to surpass 10,000 runs, becoming only the second Englishman to do so.
