On this day in 1972, Chappell Brother’s Script History: Australia was on tour to England for the five-match test series and in the final test, Australia was trailing by 2-1. Batting first the home side scored 284 runs and in reply, the Australian batsman started off in a bad way but the Chappell brothers had the opportunity to build the innings and the brothers scored a century each in the first innings, they tried to build the partnership and had successfully put 201 runs for the third wicket partnership.

Ian Chappell scored 118 runs in 267 deliveries and Greg Chappell scored 113 runs in 226 deliveries. Both brothers scoring centuries in the same innings created history.

The performance from the brothers helped Australia reach 399 and England responded by scoring 356 runs in the second innings, Australia now needed 243 runs but they chased it down easily and won the match by 5 wickets, which helped them to draw the series.

We have seen multiple times in different teams where brothers play together but no one has ever seen the feet of brothers scoring centuries in the same innings at that time.

Ian Chappell was born on 26th September 1943, Ian was considered the greatest captain of all time. After his cricket career, Ian took retirement in 1980 and he worked as a sports journalist and cricket commentator.

Greg Chappell was also known as Gregory Stephen Chappell is popular for his stroke play and fierce concentration while batting. He was also a Medium pace and he has the world record for most catches in a test match. After his retirement in 1984, he was the selector for the national side and also for the Queensland team.
