NZ-W Vs BAN-W Highlights: After recording a clean sweep over Bangladesh in T20I series, the hosts New Zealand maintained their dominance in the ODIs series too by winning the first game of the series by 8 wickets in Wellington.

It was a comfortable victory for the hosts’ team and they did achieve the target with 8 wickets in hand and 19 overs still left.

Both of their department shone in the game, reason behind their comprehensive victory.

Jess Kerr starred with bowl for New Zealand as she took 4 wickets by giving just 23 in her 10 overs to restrict the Bangladesh to just 180.

Later, their batters Suzie Bates and Maddy Green played superb Knock of 93 and 59, respectively to help New Zealand claim a 1-0 lead in the series. They both remained not out in the process.

Opting to bat, the visitors faced a shaky start as they lost 2 of their dependable batters early in the innings.

Shamim Akhter and the skipper Nigar Sultana, however, tried to rescue the side with their 64-run partnership for the third wicket before Akhter was dismissed by Fran Jonas.

Sultana remained on crease and continued to contribute to her side’s total. She again did a good partnership this time with Lata Mondal of 55 for the fourth wicket.

The run-rate was not on Bangladesh’s side though, as at the time they lost their fourth they already consumed 41.1 overs with just 129 on board.

They managed to add 51 off the last 53 balls, but it won’t enough in front of mighty New Zealand side.

Nigar Sultana did score 73 runs for her side, but she took 133 balls in the process.

Jess Kerr remained the star of the first half of the game as she took four wickets in her impressive spell of 10 overs. Kerr just gave 23 runs. Fran Jonas bagged 1 wicket

New Zealand were in mood to end the game as early as possible as they started to chase a low-target on a destructive note.

Both of their batters hot good number of boundaries during the initial over of the game and provided an edge over the visitors before the skipper of New Zealand, Sophie Devine left the crease after scoring 21 runs.

Amelia Kerr, who walked in to bat at no.3, failed to create some magic this time as she walked back without even scoring a single run as she was bowled out by Jahanara Alam.

Both the breakthroughs to Bangladesh were provided by Jahanara Alam.

Suzie Bates, however, stayed strong on one end, and Maddy Green provided her a full support to help New Zealand win the game.

Bates missed her well-deserved century by 7 runs but she ensured her side a comfortable victory. She struck 93* off 91 with the help of 12 fours.

Maddy Green played a knock of 59* in 70 balls
