Seattle Orcas vs MI New York Match Highlights

The Swashbuckling batter stunned everyone at Dallas with his explosive batting, and thanks to that, the MI New York won the first edition of the Major League Cricket.  

The thrilling final battle saw Seattle Orcas posted 183 on board, while batting first, and MI in reply, lost their first wicket in the first over, but them came Nicholas Pooran on crease like a tsunami and took away the game from Seattle Orcas. 

Captain Pooran played a knock of unbeaten 137 off just 55. His knocks included 10 fours and 13 sixes, and helped his side secure the inaugural MLC title.

Chasing a big target of 184 during the night of the finals, the MI lost their first wicket during the third ball of the innings, that left them in shock, but the tsunami yet to come in Dallas, and that came in the form of Nicholas Pooran at the no.3 position.  

Captaining the side on the big final night, Pooran started his innings without any fear and went onto smash every ball all around the park.  

Pooran first completed his half-century in 16-ball then completed his hundred in just 40-ball and scored another 37 in the next fifteen deliveries to take his side home. 

The skipper was in no mood to take singles or doubles, as he was in mood of just hitting the boundaries, his 118 runs form 137 came from boundaries (10 fours and 13 sixes).  

His 137 is now the second-highest score by a skipper in T20s while chasing. 

The left-handed batter ended the MLC 2023 season as the highest run-scorer with 378 runs in 7 innings with the help of 34 sixes. He maintained a strike-rate over 141 throughout the competition.  

Quinton De Kock sets the final tone  

Invited to bat, the top-order batter Quinton de Kock took the full benefit of the batting surface and played a knock of 87 where his teammates were seen struggling but at the end, they reached 183 for 9 in 20 overs.  

Apart from de Kock, Shubham Ranjane (29), and Dwayne Pretorius (21) decent knocks rescued the side from losing wickets setback.
