India in the West Indies Tour played three T20 internationals and three ODI’s and is set to play its first Test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on 22 August. India has swept out complete T20 and ODI series with a 2-0 lead.
Virat Kohli, who has made his 42nd century in the ODI series, will not only look to become the first India Captain to win the two-test series but also look to maintain India’s unbeaten record on the current tour.
Looking into the longest formats, India has not lost even a single test series against West Indies since 2002. West Indies and India have played a total of 23 Tests since 1948-49 in which West Indies won 12 times and India won 9 times in the series.
In 1971, India took up its first win in the Test Series against West Indies with Ajit Wadekar as the captain of the team. It was also India’s first Test win in the Caribbean. And five Test Series has ended up with draws leading India to a historic win.
India took 35 years to go back to West Indies and win a test series under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy. Later in 2011, MS Dhoni’s team toured to West Indies and Won the three-match series with a 1-0 lead.
Virat Kohli’s first Test series win as India captain came at West Indies in the year 2016 when he led from the front to help his team clinch the 4-match series with a 2-0 lead.
