In 18.4 overs, the Maharajas, led by Harbhajan Singh, successfully chased down a 171-run mark to win the game by six wickets. With half-centuries, Tanmay Srivastava and Yusuf Pathan shone for the Maharajas in the batting department, while Pankaj Singh’s medium-pace bowling turned back the clock by capturing 5/26.

India Maharajas Vs World Giants match highlights

Opting to bat, World Giants made a strong start as their openers added 50 for the first-wicket. Hamilton Masakadza got out after helping side post a good score on board during the powerplay overs, while his partner Kevin O Brien continued to fire with the bat and in no time completed his half-century.

India’s 2007 T20 World final match hero Joginder Sharma, however got rid off him when he was at 52. Soon the skipper Jacque Kallis departed.

Dinesh Ramdin and Thishara Perera then tried to add some runs on board by doing 42 runs partnership for the fourth wicket before Perera walked back after scoring 16-ball 23.

Pankaj Singh of India Maharajas then took control in his hands and removed four of World Giants batters in quick succession and ended his spell with figures of 4-26-5.

It was Ramdin for World Giants that took his side to 170 in 20 overs with his unbeaten knock of 42 off 29.

Chasing a target of 171, India Maharajas faced a big blow when Virender Sehwag got out in the first over itself. Parthiv Patel and Mohammed Kaif then too walked back to pavilion early that left Maharajas to 50 for 3 in 6.5 overs.

But a partnership of 103 between Tanmay Srivastava and Yusuf Pathan brought the Maharajas back in the game and at the time Srivastava caught in the middle, the team only needed 18 off 17 with well-set Yusuf Pathan on crease.

However, it was Pathan’s younger brother who gave his team the winning margin by blasting 20 off just 9, while Yusuf (50* off 35) enjoyed his younger one’s batting from the other end and didn’t return to the pavilion until his team had won by 6 wickets.
