It has been early days for Rohit Sharma as India’s full-time captain across formats. He enjoys an enviable record, especially in the limited-overs format. India hasn’t lost a series under his captaincy post-Sharma took over. Let us have a look at List Of Virat Kohli Records that Rohit Sharma might able to break.

The Indian team has hardly dropped a game in T20Is despite competing across conditions. In the first 50 games as skipper, Rohit’s track record is unmatchable. But there are few records of Virat Kohli that might remain untouched.

We look at List Of Virat Kohli Records that Sharma might not be able to break:

#3 Test matches as India Captain

Rohit Sharma made his India debut earlier than Virat Kohli. Sharma debuted in 2007 while Kohli broke through in 2008. But it was Kohli who cemented his spot in the team. Sharma had to wait 6 years to make his Test debut while Kohli became a regular in 2011-12. Kohli was destined for captaincy soon after he became a permanent member of the side. He took over Test captaincy in 2014-15.

India went from strength to strength as a Test side under Kohli. Rohit on the other hand kept going in and out of the side. He had to wait until 2019 to cement his status as a Test opener. Sharma got Test captaincy in 2022. He is aged 35 currently. It looks unlikely that he will go past Kohli’s record of Test matches as skipper (68).

#2 Most Test double-centuries as captain

Virat Kohli was ridiculed for not notching up daddy hundreds in Test cricket. He shut all critics in the 2016-17 season where he smashed 6 double centuries. Kohli was unstoppable during that phase. He notched up his 7th double hundred (254) in 2019. It remains his highest Test score. Rohit Sharma has big boots to fill in this regard. In what is expected to be a brief Test captaincy career, Sharma might find it hard to break this feat.

#1 Most ODI runs as an Indian captain

There is no doubt that Virat Kohli will go down as arguably the greatest ODI batsman even if he chooses to give up on the format today. His numbers in ODI cricket are insane. He holds the record for the fastest 10,000 runs. Nobody averages or strikes more than Kohli for batsmen scoring more than 10,000 runs.

Kohli holds the record for scoring the most ODI runs (5449) in 95 games at an average of 72.65. Rohit might find it difficult if not impossible to topple this record.
