WPL 2026 Schedule Announcement: Dates, Venues Revealed
BCCI Reveals Schedule Ahead of WPL 2026 Mega Auction
On Thursday, November 27, the BCCI officially confirmed the schedule for the fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) during the mega-auction event in New Delhi. Representatives from all five franchises were present when the announcement was made ahead of the bidding process for the 2026 season. So let’s have a look about WPL 2026 Schedule Announcement.
As per the BCCI, WPL 2026 will be held from January 9 to February 5, marking a shift from its usual February–March slot.
Two Venues Finalised for WPL 2026 Season
For the upcoming edition, the tournament will be conducted across two venues—Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. The decision to keep the league restricted to these locations comes in light of venue requirements for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
-
Opening Match (January 9): BCA Stadium, Vadodara
-
Final (February 5): DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai
The WPL released an official statement noting the venue change:
“The #TATAWPL 2026 will be held from 9th January to 5th February in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host the opener. The BCA Stadium in Vadodara will host the final.”
Why WPL 2026 Has a New Window
Traditionally, the WPL occupies the February–March window. However, with the Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled to begin in India in early February 2026, the women’s league has been moved forward by a month.
Since major stadiums across India will be reserved for the World Cup, the BCCI opted for Navi Mumbai and Vadodara as the most feasible and available options for WPL 2026.
Highlights from the Mega Auction Event
The mega auction event witnessed a strong presence from influential figures of women’s cricket, including India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who participated in the ceremony as league officials announced the dates.
A total reshuffle of squads is expected, as franchises aim to strengthen their line-ups for the fourth season with strategic picks.
Most Successful WPL Teams So Far
As the league heads into its fourth year, Mumbai Indians remain the most decorated franchise with two titles, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted their maiden trophy in the 2025 season.
With the tournament window shifted and new venues hosting the action, WPL 2026 is expected to deliver another exciting and competitive season for fans across the globe.
