ROKO’s Decline: Rohit and Kohli’s Struggles in Test Cricket
Both Rohit and Kohli have played crucial roles in Indian cricket. Kohli is known for his strong and consistent batting, making him one of the best Test players in the world. Rohit has adapted well to the longer format and established himself as an opening batsman and strong leader. Together, they have led India to significant victories, including the historic series win in Australia. But lately, their performance in Test cricket has not been as strong.
Kohli has had some great individual innings, but he has struggled with consistency. His performance in overseas matches has been questioned, particularly his ability to turn good starts into big scores. Similarly, Rohit has had success in limited-overs cricket but has faced difficulties with consistency in Test matches, especially as an opener.

With younger players like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rishabh Pant coming up and competing for spots, there is growing pressure on Rohit and Kohli. The Indian team, led by a new captain, is increasingly mixing young talent with experienced players, focusing on performance instead of seniority.
While Rohit and Kohli have proven themselves over the years, In June Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retaired form T20I cricket after clinching the T20 World Cup, which marked end of ROKO in T20Is and the recent changes in Indian cricket and their performance suggest that ROKO may be nearing its end in Test cricket as well.
But there is no confirmantion on the end of ROKO yet and non of them announced their retairement form Test so there is time, however there are some speculation about Rohit’s reatairment but on January 4 he dismissed his retirement rumours, saying he is “not going anywhere”.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the conclusion of ROKO’s career, and neither of the players involved has publicly announced their retirement from Test cricket. This means that there is still much time for future developments.
However, there have been ongoing speculations surrounding Rohit Sharma’s potential retirement from the format. On January 4, he addressed these rumors directly, firmly stating that he is “not going anywhere” and intends to continue contributing to the team. This clarification from Rohit has helped to quell some of the uncertainty surrounding his future in Test cricket.
