Prithvi Shaw once considered the future star of Indian cricket and compared to Indian legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, has seen his career downgrade. Although his career started with strong performances, Shaw’s recent outings have been inconsistent. His bat has failed to deliver applaudable runs in recent years, and this has been continuing in the IPL as well. Question arises Will Prithvi Shaw Play In IPL 2025?

Shaw’s IPL future remains at the crossroads after the 2025 IPL mega auction, leaving fans to wonder if he will play in the IPL 2025 or any of the future competitions.

Prithvi Shaw Current Form in recent Matches

Prithvi Shaw’s career has been going through some hardships, He was retained by the Delhi Capitals in the 2022 IPL mega auction, hoping his stellar form will be back. Eventually, he was released after the 2024 season, as he lacked the strong performing stance that had been shown in the past. Despite being listed with a base price of ₹75 lakh, he went unsold in the 2025 IPL mega auction. Shaw’s recent downgraded form also resulted in him being excluded from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad in 2024, mainly due to fitness and discipline concerns.

Apart from his form sharply declining, off-field issues like a 2023 altercation with a social media influencer, have also affected his career. With his form diluting and opportunities in both domestic and IPL cricket slipping away from him, Shaw’s future in the sport seems to be uncertain, after having a dramatic fall from his early promise.

How Can Prithvi Shaw Play In The IPL 2025?

If any player goes unsold in the IPL auction, the unsold players still have the chance of joining the league. The change could come in the form of injury replacement or any disparity between a player and a franchise, resulting in the franchise going in for another player.

The replacement player must be registered for the auction and should have a base price lower than the injured player’s auction value. Prithvi Shaw was backed by Abhishek Sharma, who spoke highly about his former U-19 captain, Prithvi Shaw. He expressed hope for his comeback, praising his batting skills and assuring that Shaw would make a strong return soon.
