KL Rahul likely to part ways with the Lucknow Super Giants following the openly criticised incident took place after losing the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2024 IPL season. Will KL Rahul leave Lucknow Super Giants?

Rahul, who captained the Lucknow Super Giants for three seasons was found himself in a heated argument with the owner of the franchise. That incident was believed to bring up the rumours about the end of KL Rahul’s three-year association, which received a lot of attention on social media as it was caught in front of the rolling cameras.

Following the incident, the owner of Sanjiv Goenka hosted a dinner in Delhi.

Lance Klusener, the assistant coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, rejected the rumors, adding that there had been no debate concerning Rahul’s future as franchise leader. “I don’t see any problem with some robust discussion between two cricket lovers”. So for us, I guess it’s just a storm in a teacup. We love a robust discussion. I think that’s how teams get better. So, it’s not a big thing for us” he said.

Despite the denial, the media reports are claiming KL Rahul’s possible return with the Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) for the next season, as the franchise is in search of an Indian player to lead their team. Faf du Plessis, who led RCB for last three years, turns 40 this year and is close to being retired, putting Rahul in the spotlight.

KL Rahul was a part of the Royal Challengers Banglore franchise in the 2013 and 2016 IPL seasons and he also expressed his interest in wanting to play for his state team again.

Lucknow Super Giants entered the Indian Premeir League in 2022, and appointed KL Rahul the skipper of the franchise. LSG has reached the playoffs 2 out of three times under the leadership of KL Rahul. While RCB has been part of the IPL since its inception, they are yet to win their maiden trophy.
