Will Hardik Pandya play in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25?

India’s premium all-rounder Hardik Pandya is working hard these days and was seen practicing with the red ball that raises the buzz of his comeback in test cricket.

The star Indian player last played a test match way back in 2018 against England. And he has not featured in any test match due to workload management and fitness issues since then.

Hardik Pandya has played as many as 11 test matches for India and has scored 532 runs at an average of 31.29, including a century and four fifties. While he grabbed 18 wickets with the ball.

He has a fair amount of first-class experience, as he has appeared in 29 games where he scored 1351 runs at 30.52, that includes a hundred and ten fifties. He has bagged 48 wickets in 39 innings.

His latest video has left all guessing about his comeback in test cricket. Was that a hint or simply a practice strategy? Will Hardik Pandya play in Border-Gavaskar Trophy?

There is no official word on his test return at the moment, but given his current fitness, he may be aiming to play all three formats for India. With the Ranji Trophy starting next month, Pandya might be looking to take part in the prestigious domestic tournament, and if that happens, he may get a chance to play in Border-Gavaskar Trophy based on his Ranji Trophy performance.

Team India is currently on top spot at the WTC 2025 standings, with four home matches yet to play, one against Bangladesh and three versus New Zealand before going to Australia for BGT 2024-25.

Given India’s current form, the Rohit Sharma-led side is likely to secure victories in couple or more home tests, while can give tough fight to Australia in the five-match test series, starting November 22.

While the squad will remain similar to India’s test squad against Bangladesh, there may be few changes if Mohd. Shami regains full fitness and Pandya impresses selectors with his performance in Ranji Trophy.
