South Africa faced a shaky start after opting to bat in the second test and only able to score 160 in their first innings.
Shamar Joseph once again stole the spotlight and his third fifer in sixth international test.
West Indies were looking well in control after the first innings of the game, but their batters failed to capitalize on the momentum and posted 16 runs short of the Proteas total.
With a lead of 16 runs on their side, the tourists with the help of two fifty-plus knocks, one by Markram (51) and the other by Kyle Verreynne (59), posted 246 in their second innings and set a target of 263 runs for the host.
Time was not the issue in this test match like the last one despite that the West Indies failing to chase the target and lost the game by 40 runs.
Keshav Maharaj was awarded the player of the series title after taking 13 wickets in 2 innings, including two four-wicket hauls.
