Complete news and Updates on When will IPL 2025 resume?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 season in light of the escalating security concerns between India and Pakistan. Let’s look at When will IPL 2025 resume?
The suspension, effective for one week, was decided by the IPL Governing Council. In a statement, the BCCI emphasized that while cricket is cherished across the country, national security and integrity come first. A revised schedule and venue list will be shared once the situation stabilizes and a comprehensive review is completed.
“At this critical juncture, BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation, as they lead a resolute response to the recent terrorist attack and the unwarranted aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces.
While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing greater than the Nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country. The BCCI remains firmly committed to support all efforts that safeguard India and will always align its decisions in the best interest of the nation.” – BCCI’s official statement read.
IPL 2025 Teams performance overview
Before the abrupt halt, the tournament had reached a crucial juncture, with intense competition for playoff spots. Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru were leading the points table, both securing 16 points from 11 matches. While Gujarat enjoyed a superior Net Run Rate (+0.793), RCB wasn’t far behind with +0.482, thanks to some inspired performances and balanced team efforts.
Punjab Kings were in third place with 15 points from 11 games, showing consistent form and resilience. Mumbai Indians followed closely in fourth, winning 7 out of 12 matches, powered by strong batting performances, especially from Suryakumar Yadav. Their superior NRR of +1.156 gives them an edge in the race to the playoffs.
Delhi Capitals stood fifth with 13 points, showing a decent mix of youth and experience. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants found themselves in a mid-table battle with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Both teams had mixed results but remained within playoff contention.
Unfortunately, three teams have already been eliminated from the playoff race. Sunrisers Hyderabad (7 points), Rajasthan Royals (6 points), and Chennai Super Kings (6 points) struggled throughout the campaign, suffering early exits due to inconsistent performances and weak NRRs.
The suspension halts momentum for several teams, but once play resumes, tentatively expected after one week, pending security assessments every game will be even more critical as the league heads into its final stretch.
