When will cricket be included in olympics, The World’s second most popular sport has not been part of the prominent athletic event since 1900. Despite fan demand, the game failed to make the cut, owing due to its long hour playing style.   

Cricket has only appeared at the Olympics till date, and it was back in 1900 Paris Olympics

But cricket fans will be delighted to know it will finally return to the headline event. Cricket will be included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Former World Cup winning coach Rahul Dravid was present as a guest panelist in the recent discussion on Cricket at the Olympics.  

Dravid also showed his support to the decision to include cricket at the Olympics.  

“I’ve already heard a few conversations in the dressing room. People are talking about the 2026 T20 World Cup, there is an ODI World Cup in 2027, and you hear people saying there is the Olympics in 2028,” Rahul Dravid said as quoted by PTI.

“People are going to want to win that gold medal, stand on the podium, and be a part of the Games Village, a great sporting event, and interact with so many athletes,” he added. 

India legend also expressed his wish to see both India men and women’s win gold at the LA Olympics.  

“The dream for me to have a fantastic cricket tournament, hopefully Indian men and women winning the gold which would be nice.” said Dravid.

Cricket had some difficulty being included in the Olympics due to the match’s length. However, since the introduction of T-20 format back in 2003, the shortest found instant found acceptance among fans due to its fast action-packed experience, and the sport will ultimately be included in 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
