Virat Kohli Agilitas Partnership: A New Era in Indian Sportswear

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli has officially partnered with Indian sportswear startup Agilitas Sports, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter in his off-field career. The announcement came on Monday, December 8, shortly after India’s ODI series victory over South Africa where Kohli was adjudged Player of the Series. So let’s know about Virat Kohli Agilitas partnership.

This move follows the conclusion of Kohli’s long-standing association with Puma, shifting his role from brand ambassador to investor and strategic partner with Agilitas.

Kohli Ends Multi-Crore Puma Association

Kohli’s previous deal with Puma, signed in 2017 for approximately Rs 110 crore, led to the launch of the popular One8 athleisure line under the Puma banner. Reports suggest that PUMA offered a renewal worth nearly Rs 300 crore, but Kohli opted to join Agilitas instead—indicating a long-term vision beyond a sponsorship contract.

A Strategic Move into Ownership

Unlike his earlier brand partnerships, Kohli’s association with Agilitas comes with a significant equity investment. Regulatory documents indicate he has invested close to Rs 40 crore, securing around 1.94% stake via Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares.

This elevates Kohli to the role of co-creator and decision influencer, shaping the brand’s future and product evolution.

Vision Behind the Collaboration

Crediting Agilitas founder Abhishek Ganguly (former MD of Puma India & SEA), Kohli said he believed in the company’s manufacturing capability and long-term potential.

“When he explained the scale, expertise, and vision behind it, I felt it could become something big—and I wanted to be part of it,” Kohli stated.

Kohli emphasized that products will be designed and manufactured in India, with the goal of empowering athletes and consumers while promoting homegrown innovation.

What Changes for One8?

Under the new model, One8 will now operate under Agilitas, with plans to expand product lines, introduce new footwear and apparel collections, and strengthen retail presence across India and globally.

The brand aims to transition into a global sportswear label, opening doors for international expansion in coming years.

Kohli Still Dominant On Field

At 36, Kohli continues proving his excellence in ODI cricket despite retiring from Tests and T20Is. His recent series heroics—two centuries and a fifty—silenced doubts around his form, reaffirming his hunger for success with an eye on the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Currently in London, Kohli is expected back in India later this month to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, before India’s ODI series versus New Zealand.
