UAE-W vs NEP-W Highlights: The Nepal women’s cricket team defeated United Arab of Emirates by – wickets in the opening match of Women’s Asia Cup 2024 played at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Friday.
Samjhana Khadka starred with the bat during the run-chase by playing a match-winning knock of not out 72 in 45 balls to guide her side to victory with 23 balls to spare.
Earlier, the skipper of Nepal Indu Barma made headlines by taking three wickets to restrict UAE to a below par score.

After being invited to bat first, team UAE faced a tough start and lost their first four wickets at only 46.
Kavisha Egodage and Khushi Sharma tried to rescue the team with their 32-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Kavisha went back to pavilion for 22.
While Khushi Sharma played a crucial knock of 36 that helped UAE women to post 115 for 8 in 20 overs.
Nepal’s captain Indu Barma was the pick of the bowlers for her team, as he bagged 3 wickets while giving only 19 in three overs.

Nepal to chase 116 in 20 overs
Team Nepal, in reply, started the chase on a high note by scoring 39 in first five overs.
Kavisha Egodage then took charge and provided UAE with two important breakthroughs to keep her side in the game.
But Samjhana Khadka was in no mood for a slow play as despite wickets falling from other end, the opening batter kept on scoring run with good pace and scored her maiden fifty in 34 balls.
Nepal with the help of Khadka’s impactful knock chased down the target in 16.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Khadka remained unbeaten in the run-chase at 72* off 45 and received the player of the match award for her heroics knock.
What’s next in Asia Cup 2024?
The second match of the Women’s Asia Cup will take place today (July 19) at 7 PM IST at the same venue between India and Pakistan.
