Playing for Barbados Royals, Matthews played a knock of not out 67 to lead her side to victory in second match of the WCPL 2024 at the Brain Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

Trinbago Knight Riders women, playing their first match of the season, lost four main batters inside the powerplay, including Jemimah Rodrigues for 16.
Skipper Deandra Dottin’s 28, Shikha Pandey’s 30 and Zaida James’ 22 guided the Trinbago passed the 100-run mark and posted 113 after 20 overs.
Barbados Royals need 114 to win second WCPL match
Chasing a target of 114, Barbados Royals witnessed a tough as the star batter Chamari Athapaththu went back to pavilion after scoring only 5.
But skipper Matthews and Qiana Joseph’s 65-run stand kept the side in game, with Matthews remained the aggressor in the partnership, Joseph’s decent 16 removed the pressure.

Laura Harris joined skipper at the crease after Alleyne’s dismissal (11) and was looking in a mood to chase the target early. Harris struck a four and a maximum and her 7-ball 14* alongside Matthews heroics helped Barbados Royals win the game in 17.1 overs.
This win strengthens Barbados Royals women’s team chances to reach the finale this edition and defend their title.
