New Zealand’s terrific win over India not only boost their confidence but also give them a chance to stay in WTC 2025 final contentions.  

In order to play their second WTC final, the Blackcaps will need to repeat the whitewash charisma. The momentum is with the Kiwis, but they need to make the most of this opportunity.

Currently in fourth, if Kiwis managed to win all of their remaining three matches against England, then they will end their WTC 2023-25 cycle at a maximum 64.29 percent.  

Tim Southee to retire from Test cricket after England series

Seasoned Tim Southee has announced his retirement from test cricket after the England series unless New Zealand qualify for the WTC 2025 finals.  

Southee, New Zealand’s leading wicket-taker in international cricket, is due to play his final red-ball game at his home ground, Seddon Park, Hamilton. However, if the Blackcaps claim victory 3-0, Southee can be seen playing the 2025 World Test Championship final.  

The three-match test series will start on November 28 and will run till December 18. Both teams will play a two-day warm-up match before the main event.  

Tom Latham, who had an exciting series against India both as batter and captain will continue to lead the side. Nathan Smith has been called-up, while Jacob Duffy also made the cut. Kyle Jamieson (back) and Ben Sears (knee) will miss the series due to injury.
