Ravindra Jadejas exclusion from ODI series, Ajit Agarkar, India’s cheif selector, has formally addressed a press conference alongside the new head coach Gautam Gambhir for the first time since being appointed. 

Both Agarkar and Gambhir have addressed many things on the front, with Ravindra Jadeja’s exclusion from ODIs against Sri Lanka being one of the pressing concerns.  

Ravindra Jadeja, who remained India’s backbone in all three formats for quite a time now, announced his retirement from the T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.

With India gearing for their first big tour after the World Cup, all are eyes were on the squads, and one the most shocking exclusion in the squad was Jadeja.  

Everyone was wondering why Jadeja was not selected in India’s squad for Sri Lanka tour despite having a good record and less ODI cricket before the Champions Trophy next year.

Addressing the press conference alongside India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar said, “He has not been dropped from ODIs, he is definitely in scheme of things. As there are so many tests ahead where he is going to feature in most of them, we gave him rest. Picking both Axar & Jadeja in this short ODI series was pointless”.

Ravindra Jadeja’s performance in ODI world Cup 2023

Jadeja has performed exceptionally in the ODI World Cup 2023, where India reached the finals. The all-rounder scored 120 runs with the bat in five innings with the bat at an average of 40. He also claimed 16 wickets in 11 matches.
