Sourav Ganguly Time out
The time-out incident with Angelo Mathews has created a stir in the cricket world, as some are supporting this thing, while many are describing it as against the spirit of the game.
Although this incident did not happen for the first time, when India toured South Africa in 2006-07, such a situation was created in which the batter could fall trapped to time out.
This incident was happened during India’s golden batting period, when Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly all were part of team India.
India vs South Africa Time-out Match
When India’s second wicket fell in the second inning of the last match of the series against South Africa in January 2007, Sachin, who used to bat at number 4, was not allowed to bat due to time he spent off the field. The next batsman, Laxman, was taking the shower, so Ganguly had to step up in that situation. He changed and started his preparation to be ready to bat which took almost 6 minutes.
According to the Test rule, the time out period is 3 minutes, and Graeme Smith, the captain of South Africa at that time, had this opportunity to use the time out rule to make Ganguly a victim of time out, but Smith did not do so, and Ganguly got a full chance to bat.
