Security Beefed Up at Eden Gardens Ahead of India vs South Africa Test After Delhi Blast
The Kolkata Police have intensified security measures at Eden Gardens ahead of the first Test match between India and South Africa, set to begin on November 14. The move comes in response to a high-intensity blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that occurred earlier this week, raising nationwide security concerns. So let’s have a look at Security beefed up at Eden Gardens.
Both teams, who have already arrived in Kolkata, will remain under heavy protection throughout their stay. The first Test of the two-match series has drawn huge attention, and authorities are determined to ensure a safe environment for players, officials, and spectators.
Delhi Blast Triggers Nationwide Alert
The explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening claimed eight lives and injured 24 others. As per police reports, only two of the victims have been identified so far. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blast, which reportedly coincided with the dismantling of an interstate terror module by police units from Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha stated that the explosion took place at around 6:52 pm when a slow-moving vehicle halted at a traffic signal near the Red Fort. “An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged,” Golcha confirmed. Authorities also found explosive materials that were allegedly meant to trigger further unrest.
