Saif Hassan Appointed Bangladesh T20I Vice-Captain

Bangladesh cricket has witnessed a major leadership reshuffle as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed multiple new appointments across formats. Young top-order batter Saif Hassan has been named the new vice-captain of the Bangladesh T20I team, marking his entry into the senior leadership group. So let’s know about Saif Hassan Appointed Bangladesh T20I Vice-Captain.

Saif Hassan Joins Bangladesh T20I Leadership Group

The BCB stated that Saif Hassan’s promotion comes on the back of consistent performances in T20 cricket over the past year. He will work under regular T20I captain Litton Kumer Das, who will continue to lead the side until the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

In a press release, the cricket board said:

“Saif Hassan’s elevation as vice-captain of the T20 team comes on the back of consistent and impressive performances in the shortest format for Bangladesh.”

The decision signals Bangladesh’s effort to develop a young and stable leadership group ahead of the next T20 World Cup cycle.

BCB Confirm New Vice-Captains Across All Formats

Along with the T20I announcement, the BCB has introduced a revised structure for leadership roles across formats. As part of the new appointments:

  • Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named Test vice-captain, serving as deputy to Najmul Hossain Shanto.

  • Shanto, meanwhile, will continue as Bangladesh Test captain until the end of the current ICC World Test Championship cycle.

  • In ODIs, the leadership roles are reversed, with Shanto serving as vice-captain under Miraz, who was appointed as ODI captain earlier in June 2025 on a one-year term.

Major Administrative Restructuring within BCB

The Bangladesh Cricket Board also announced new committee reassignments at the organisational level.

  • Rubaba Daula has been appointed Chairperson of the Women’s Wing, replacing Abdur Razzak.
  • Razzak will now take charge as Chairman of High Performance, succeeding Khaled Mashud.
  • Mashud, in turn, has been moved to the role of Chairman of Grounds, succeeding BCB President Aminul Islam, who led the committee since the recent elections.

These changes reflect the BCB’s plan to reorganize leadership across technical and managerial departments to build a stronger cricketing framework.

Gender Sensitivity Training to Be Conducted Amid Harassment Probe

In parallel, the BCB is set to conduct gender-sensitivity training sessions at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. The move follows serious allegations made by former Bangladesh women’s captain Jahanara Alam, who accused current and former officials of harassment and inappropriate behavior during the 2022 Women’s World Cup.

A five-member independent investigation committee has been formed, led by retired Justice Tariq ul Hakim, with legal and administrative experts onboard.

The training session will be mandatory for department heads, with another session scheduled earlier in the day for women cricketers. BCB President Aminul Islam reiterated a “zero tolerance policy” toward harassment and misconduct.
