Who is RCB’s new bowling coach Omkar Salvi?

Omkar Salvi is the current head coach of team Mumbai in domestic cricket, who guided Mumbai to win Ranji Trophy in March this year, followed by the Irani Cup in October.

He is the brother of former Indian cricketer Aavishkar Salvi. Omkar has only played one first-class match for Railways in 2005, but his emphasis on technical improvement and player development has earned him the reputation of an effective coach.

RCB’s plan for IPL 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who made it to the playoffs in IPL 2024, have yet to win a trophy despite competing since the tournament’s inception in 2008.

Earlier this year, RCB appointed Dinesh Karthik as their batting coach and mentor for IPL 2025 season. While the franchise retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal before the IPL mega auction.

With the auction set to take place on November 24 and 25, the franchise will look to rope in some of the power hitters and reliable bowlers to their squad. RCB still have 83 crores left in their purse, along with three Right to Match (RTM) cards, and the franchise will definitely want to make the most of this oppourtunity to strengthen their core.

The inclusion of the successful bowling coach will undoubtedly be going to give RCB some confidence, while it will remain a challenge for Salvi, considering the batting friendly surface and shorter boundaries at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy stadium.

With IPL 2025 likely to start in the final week of March, Salvi, who is currently serving as the head coach of Mumbai, will join RCB once his contract ends in March of next year.
