Ravindra Jadeja is to play Ranji Trophy 2025

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is set to feature in Saurashtra’s upcoming Ranji Trophy clash against Madhya Pradesh, beginning October 25 at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The 36-year-old veteran, who missed out on India’s ODI squad in Australia, has made himself available to stay match-ready ahead of the Test series against South Africa next month, according to a Cricbuzz report. So let’s have a look at Ravindra Jadeja is to play Ranji Trophy 2025.

Jadeja’s Ranji Trophy Record With Saurashtra

Ravindra Jadeja has been a prolific performer for Saurashtra over the years. In 47 Ranji Trophy appearances, he has scored 3,456 runs at an average of 57.60 and taken 208 wickets at 21.25. His last Ranji appearance was against Assam in the previous edition, where he played two matches and earned Player of the Match honours against Delhi with 38 runs and 12 wickets (five for 66 and seven for 38).

Jadeja’s all-round prowess is expected to add significant strength to Saurashtra’s squad as they take on a competitive Madhya Pradesh side.

Staying Match-Fit Ahead of Test Series

After being left out of the ODI squad for Australia, Jadeja expressed his mindset about the omission:

“It is a good thing that they communicated the reason behind my omission. I am happy about that. But whenever I get a chance next, I will try and do what I have done all these years. If I get a chance in the World Cup and there are many ODIs before and if I do well there, it will be a good thing for Indian cricket.”

He recently shone in the home Test series against the West Indies, scoring an unbeaten 104 in the first Test in Ahmedabad and taking eight wickets across the two matches, helping India secure a 2-0 series whitewash.

Playing the Ranji Trophy match will allow Jadeja to maintain his form and fitness, ensuring he is ready for the upcoming South Africa Test series.

Saurashtra Squad For The Match

Saurashtra will be hoping to benefit from Jadeja’s experience and leadership on the field. Their squad for the Ranji Trophy game against Madhya Pradesh includes:

Harvik Desai (wk), Tarang Gohel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuvrajsinh Dodiya, Sammar Gajjar, Arpit Vasavada, Chirag Jani, Prerak Mankad, Jaydev Unadkat (c), Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Chetan Sakariya, Ansh Gosai, Jay Gohil, Parth Bhut, Kevin Jivrajani, Hetvik Kotak, Ankur Panwar.

In their first match of the 2025/26 Ranji season, Jaydev Unadkat-led Saurashtra edged out Karnataka thanks to a narrow first-innings lead, with Dharmendra Jadeja claiming a 10-wicket haul. Madhya Pradesh, meanwhile, started their season strongly with a big first-innings lead courtesy of a double century from Rajat Patidar, making this upcoming clash an exciting contest.

Jadeja’s Role In Domestic Cricket

Ravindra Jadeja’s return aligns with the BCCI’s new policy encouraging international players to participate in domestic cricket whenever possible. A Saurashtra Cricket Association official confirmed:

“He is expected to play in the next match.”

With his all-round abilities and experience, Jadeja could be the decisive factor in Saurashtra’s pursuit of a Ranji Trophy victory.
