Batting first, Melbourne Stars made a decent comeback in the game after losing three for 33 in 6.3 overs.  

Stars captain Marcus Stoinis, who came in at number 4 rescued the side and was looking in good touch during his 33-ball 37 run knock before a target hit by Andrew Tye from mid-on ran him out.  

Hilton Cartwright’s 18 and Beau Webster’s 19 kept the scoreboard tickling, while a quick-fire 19-ball 37 by Tom Curran guided the Stars to a defendable total of 146 in 20 overs.  

Jhye Richardson was the pick of the bowlers for Perth Scorchers with three wickets during his four-over spell.  

Scorchers chased the target in 17.1 overs

Despite losing their openers at the score of 17 in 1.5, and the third wicket on 37, the Scorchers chased down the 147-run target with 17 balls to spare.  

Cooper Connolly, who came in number 3 rescued the side from early breakthroughs with his solid 64 that included four fours and three maximums.
