PBKS vs CSK Highlights Today Match 53 IPL 2024

Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round performance helped Chennai Super Kings win over Punjab Kings by 28 runs.

The decent scoring game saw Chennai post 167 on board in 20 overs, while Punjab Kings failed to chase down the target and only managed to record 139.

Ravindra Jadeja starred with both bat (43 off 26) and ball (4-0-20-3) to guide CSK to a much-needed win to remain in playoff contention.

This marked CSK’s first victory against Punjab Kings since IPL 2021.

PBKS vs CSK Highlights

Invited to bat first, Chennai lost their first wicket in the second over of the game as Ajinkya Rahane.

Daryl Mitchell, who came into bat at number 3 for CSK, played his part and added 57 runs with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for the second wicket before the skipper walked back.

CSK’s leading run-scorer this season, Shivam Dube, went back to pavilion for the second consecutive first-ball duck against Punjab Kings.

Mitchell too lost his wicket in the next over, while Moeen Ali also failed to convert his start to leave CSK in trouble at 101 for 5.

Ravindra Jadeja remained tall at one end and played till the final over of the innings, as his 26-ball 43 guided CSK to a decent 167 in 20 overs.

Punjab Kings to chase 168 in 20 overs

Punjab Kings repeated the same home venue script as they threw their first 2 wickets at the score of only 9.

Impact Player Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh rescued the side from early breakthroughs, but the lack of experience again haunted the Punjab’s side, as Shashank’s wish to clear the ropes in almost every ball cost him his wicket.

Well-set Prabhsimran Singh also threw his wicket in the next over for a 23-ball 30.

Jitesh Sharma flop show continued with the bat and Ashutosh Sharma was unimpactful in today’s game, as Punjab Kings fell 28-run short of the target to lose the game.

All the eyes were on skipper Sam Curran, but the English player also disappointed his side.

The win today has helped CSK to climb up to third position on the points table, while Punjab Kings will need to win all their remaining games to keep themselves in playoffs race. The wins, however, will not guarantee them a place into the playoffs.
