After a tough day 1 the home team came out to bat with Rizwan and Agha Salman they thought off guide Pakistan to a substantial total. However, the resilient England bowlers made sure that Pakistan did not cross the 400 runs mark as they cleaned up the remaining half of the Pakistan team on day 2. After having a decent day 1 the visitors were poised to clean up the home team batters and so did they do with impressive bowling from Jack Leach and Brydon Carse. They both picked up two wickets each on day 2 to restrict Pakistan to 366/10 in 123.3 overs.

Even though Pakistan tried to build a good total in the end they failed to dominate the English bowlers on day 2. However, Pakistan bowlers were outstanding on day 2 to create incense pressure which made things difficult for English batters in building a substantial lead.

England Keeps Control But Pakistan Fights Hard to Comeback

After posting 366/10 the victors came out to bat with full confidence, however at first, it did not seem like they were in control as they lost both Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope early on in the innings. Then England showed relicense as their key players Ben Duckett and Joe Root stabilized the innings and kept ticking runs whenever they could.

It was all going well until the 41st over, where suddenly Sajid Khan turned the tide around completely as he picked up three big wickets, where Ben Duckett, Joe Root, and Harry Brook all fell prey to the Pakistan spinner. Noman Ali also chipped in with a couple of wickets as the England team was rattled for 239/6 in 53 overs by the end of day 2.

Even though England kept losing wickets at one end it was Ben Duckett’s critical century that saved the England innings from closing early on. He smashed 114 runs off 124 balls, which included 16th overs. Other than Ben Duckett no one really kept the pressure on Pakistan bowlers as they kept plucking wickets.

For Pakistan, it was Sajid Khan who impressed everyone with his mind-bowling performance, at one stage England was cruising with good control but it was Sajid Khan’s impressive four wickets that crumbled the English batter at the end of Day 2.

What to Expect on Day 2? England Trail by 127 Runs

In this thrilling test match currently, it’s the home team who has control of the game and England will be looking to take the lead with Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse on the crease. On the other hand, Pakistan will be looking to kill the rest of the batsmen before the victors take the lead. As of now, England trails by 127 runs with four wickets in hand.
