PAK vs ENG 2nd Test Day 1 Updates: Day 1 of the thrilling test match between Pakistan and England comes to an end as the hosts stand strong with 259 runs on board and have lost half of their wickets at the end of day 1 stumps. After England dominated the first test match the home side is poised to fight back with a good performance in this second test match.

After winning the toss the home team Pakistan decided to bat first, where at first it seemed like it was a bad decision as both Abdullah Shafique and skipper Shan Masood walked back to the pavilion inside the first 10 overs of the first innings. However, from there it was Saim Ayub and Kamran Ghulam’s fighting knock that kept the home team alive in this second test.

Even in the first test the Pakistan team scored 500 plus runs but failed to win the match and now this will again be a huge test for the home side as they will have to put up a good score to have a chance against a strong team like England. For England, Jack Leach was the bowler who provided both the early breakthroughs.

Saim Ayub and Kamran Ghulam Fighting Innings to Hold Pakistan Stable

Kamran Ghulam was the standout player for the home team as he scored a beautiful century 118 runs off 224 balls. He along with Saim Ayub (77) anchored the Pakistan innings but their standout performance did not last long as both of them were sent back to the pavilion by the giddy England bowlers.

Once both these set batters were dismissed the wickets started to tumble were they ended up losing five wickets by the end of day 1. With Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman the home team will be looking to take a significant lead in order to give their bowlers something to fight for.

While for England the bowlers were pretty good with their line and lengths, where they picked up early wickets but in the middle, they kinda lost the grip but the bowler’s resilience brought the control back into England’s favor. Other than Jack Leach’s two wickets players like Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, and Shoaib Bashir also chipped in with one wicket each.

The Pakistan team must be careful in posting good first-inning totals as they already know that English batters are in top-class form and if they wish to avoid anything like the first test match they will have to stand strong and post a good total.
