Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024: In a season where Mumbai Indians failed to perform even with start studded squad, the players and fans would like to forget or take this season as a bad dream. Finishing last with 8 points from 14 games the new skipper Hardik Pandya missed to make a mark in the TATA IPL 2024.

However, if we look at the top 3 run scorers and wickets takers have been at their best but it is the rest of the team and a few critical decisions that become the reason for Mumbai Indian’s downfall this season.

In the past few seasons, Mumbai failed to make a decent mark in IPL under Rohit Sharma and his performance was also not up to the mark, so the management decided to hand over the captaincy regime to Hardik Pandya. This move sent shockwaves among fans and other players in the dressing room, however as the season played out the management definitely faced backlash from the fans, and with kind of performances the backlash even increased.

What Went Wrong Mumbai Indians in TATA IPL 2024

After suffering three losses at the beginning of this edition, Mumbai Indians were able to win two games to give a hope of comeback. However, the main problem was that the second half of the season has been an even worse failure, with just one win in the last seven games.

There has been a lack in the team as only a handful of players have played to their potential. Rohit Sharma made a brilliant start but faded off as the tournament progressed. Captain Hardik Pandya never got any momentum while Ishan Kishan’s lack of game time got horrifically exposed.

Although the Mumbai Indians had previously placed 10th in the IPL standings, this season will seem to be their worst ever. Their season-long chances were hindered by the sagas outside of 22 yards, aside from their on-field efforts.

Pandya’s captaincy decision at a critical junction of certain games showed the fans that he was not up to the mark, given the fact that fans had a lot of expectations from his record with Gujarat Titans. His batting record this season has been not good with just 216 runs in 14 games and 11 wickets when looked at his bowling part.

In the bowling department, it was just Jasprit Bumrah who was consistent with his economy and wickets, the problem was with the rest of the bowlers. Even though we saw a glimpse from Piyush Chawla and Gerald Coetzee the unit failed to support or capitalize on the Bumrah attack.
