Morne Morkel’s Records and Achievements as Coach: After a much-awaited time, the reports started to come out stating that former South African pacer Morne Morkel had been appointed as the new bowling coach of the Indian Senior men’s team. Considering his previous work performance as a coach and his abilities as a bowler in the past has led the new head coach Gautham Gambhir to recommend him as a new bowling coach.

After India’s recent T20 World Cup triumph the BCCI decided to revamp the entire support staff considering the future of Indian cricket. Even though these support staff members are former players, the decision to appoint these special individuals is certain to provide results. Morkel grabbed this opportunity with both hands as there is no better team to coach in the world of cricket.

Morne Morkel’s Key Records and Achievements as a Coach

After retiring from international cricket as a player the South African sensation started his new chapter in cricket as a coach, where he was first appointed as the bowling consultant for the Pakistan team, to then coach small league teams the South African pacer has traveled the world in less amount of time.

Coaching Jobs:
  1. Pakistan National Team: Morkel was appointed as the bowling coach for the Pakistan men’s cricket team in 2023. His expertise, especially with pace bowlers, was seen as a major boost for Pakistan’s pace attack during his time.
  2. Durban Super Giants (SA20 League): Morkel also took up the role of bowling coach for the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 League, where his experience and insights were valuable for developing young pacers during his time with them.
  3. Lucknow Super Giants (IPL): Morkel also served as the fast-bowling coach for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he worked alongside now head coach of Indian team Gautham Gambhir.
  4. New Zealand Women’s Team: Morkel was involved with the New Zealand Women’s cricket team during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, where he provided his expertise to the pace bowlers knowledge.
  5. Indian Men’s Cricket Team: Now from September 1st Morne Morkel is all set to take charge as the new bowling coach of the India cricket team, where he will start his journey with the Bangladesh tour of two test matches.

Achievements as a Coach:

Morkel has been instrumental in the development of young fast bowlers in the teams he has coached. Even though Morkel has not won anything in terms of trophies but Morkel’s coaching has often been credited with improving the overall bowling performance of the teams that he has coached until now.
