Kuldeep Yadav Applies for Leave Ahead of Wedding-BCCI Yet to Confirm

India’s star wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has reportedly applied to the BCCI for official leave later this month to get married. As per a report from The Times of India, the 30-year-old spinner has requested time off in the last week of November, when his wedding with fiancée Vanshika is scheduled. So let’s know about Kuldeep Yadav Applies for Leave Ahead of Wedding.

Kuldeep is currently part of India’s squad for the ongoing IND vs SA Test series, and his leave approval is expected shortly.

Wedding Plans Were Delayed Earlier

Kuldeep Yadav and Vanshika were initially supposed to get married earlier this year. However, the ceremony was postponed due to Indo-Pak border tensions, which also affected the scheduling of the IPL 2025.
The delay in the tournament had led to logistical changes for several players, forcing the spinner to reschedule his wedding.

Kuldeep announced his engagement in June 2025, and the couple is now set to tie the knot later this month.

BCCI Yet to Confirm Leave Duration

According to a BCCI source, the team management is reviewing India’s squad needs before approving how many days Kuldeep will be granted leave.

“Kuldeep’s wedding is planned for the last week of November. The team management will assess when they need his services before granting him the exact number of leaves,”
a BCCI source told TOI.

Likely to Miss 2nd Test vs South Africa

Kuldeep Yadav is part of the ongoing 1st Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. However, he is expected to be released ahead of the 2nd Test in Guwahati, scheduled from November 22–26.

His absence would be a major blow to India, especially considering his strong recent Test form, including 12 wickets in two matches against the West Indies earlier this year.

ODI Series Absence Also Expected

The India vs South Africa ODI series begins on November 30, and Kuldeep Yadav is unlikely to feature due to his wedding commitments.

This could force India to look for a replacement spinner, likely among options such as Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, or Ravi Bishnoi, depending on team balance.

Recent Appearances and Form

Kuldeep last played in the 2nd unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A, picking up one wicket.
Before that, he participated in one ODI and two T20Is during India’s tour of Australia.

His strong red-ball form has made him one of India’s most reliable Test spinners, although team management preferences and conditions may still dictate selections.
