Rahul and Jurel to join India A for BGT

KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel to travel bit early to Australia from the rest of India’s squad for preparation of Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting November 22. So Let’s take a look at Rahul and Jurel to join India A for BGT.

Rahul was part of the first test against New Zealand but was being dropped from the team for last two tests due to lack of solid performances.

While Jurel was not selected in any of the playing 11s, he was seen keeping the wickets as a substitute when Rishabh Pant hurt his knee during the first test.

The test series versus New Zealand was a forgettable event for the Indian team, as a 3-0 loss not only ended their 12-year long winning run at home, but also tighten their chances to qualify for the WTC 2025 final.

Both Rahul and Jurel will fly Tuesday morning to play the second 4-day match against Australia scheduled to be start from Thursday in Melbourne. India A lost the first unofficial test against Australia by seven wickets in Mackay, and the involvement of Rahul and Jurel will strengthen India for second unofficial test.

Rahul has featured in three of the last five home test games. While Jurel, who made his test debut against England early this year, wasn’t selected in any of the last five home tests. However, he played in a Duleep Trophy game in October where he scored 93 against Mumbai.

This move provides both batters an opportunity to get some game practice as the 3-day intra-squad game was already being cancelled.

Captain Rohit Sharma is expected to skip the opening test of the BGT 2024-25 due to personal reasons, and Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian side in his absence.
