Jasprit Burmah has returned to the Indian team after a long absence due to injury and is ready to lead the team in his comeback series after being named the skipper of the Ireland T20Is, which begin on August 18.   

The senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja will remain rested for the Irish tour, and in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya, BCCI has decided to give the captaincy responsibility to the speedster Jasprit Bumrah.  

Bumrah has a one match experience of captaining the Indian team. He was appointed as India skipper during the one-off test match against England in 2022.   

The right-arm fast bowler was seen in little trouble after the English tour as he missed the Asia Cup 2022, T20 World Cup 2022, Border Gavaskar Trophy and the WTC Final 2023, and now nearly after 11-month, he is set to be back on field fully fit.  

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was appointed as the skipper of the Indian side for the Asian Games will remain Bumrah’s deputy in this series, while the new sixer king Rinku Singh got a call-up to play international cricket for Indian.  

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played brilliantly in the test series against West Indies also included in squad alongside the young Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube. 

Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are selected as the wicketkeeper batters, while Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Avesh Khan will be the pacers, alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who is also returning to the Indian side after an injury. 

Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed and Ravi Bishnoi were selected as spinners. 

India will play a 3-match T20 series against Ireland. The first match is to be played on August 18, the second one on August 20, followed by the third game on August 23. All the games will be played at the The Village, Dublin 

The Indian side last visited Ireland in 2022 for 2-match T20 series, which Indian won by 2-0 under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.
