Jasprit Bumrah return

Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is now fit to play again and might appear in the series against Ireland next month. The progress of Bumrah’s full fitness has been confirmed by none other than the honourable BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

The right-arm Indian pacer has been out since September 2022 due to injury and has missed crucial tournaments like the T20 World Cup 2022 and WTC Final 2023, but his comeback news ahead of the World Cup 2023 is surely a relief for the Indian Cricket team fans.

Jasprit Bumrah has made a full recovery, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Jay Shah, confirms he might be a part of the team for the next Ireland series.

The squad for the series against Ireland is expected to be unveiled this week. It will be a three-match T20I series to be on August 18, 20, and 23.

The bowler had back surgery in March and hasn’t played competitive cricket since a T20I match against Australia at home in September. He also missed a lot of action at the Asia Cup due to a back issue. Following that, he made a brief comeback for the Australia T20I series at home, but his injury flared up again.

Bumrah was picked for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January of this year after starting his rehab in November of last year and beginning to bowl in December. But, as his fitness drills became more intense in January, he began to have difficulty and withdrew from the series, missing the World Test Championship Final against Australia as well.

The one-match India captain will go to Ireland for the second time after breaking his left thumb in the opening match of the T20I series in 2018, causing him to miss the first part of England’s tour that year.

With the 50-over World Cup less than three months away, Bumrah’s return will provide India a boost as they prepare for the 2023 ODI World Cup. who will be vying for their third World Cup, their second at home. Bumrah combines a formidable three-pronged speed attack with Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
